Tomar’s Industrial Heritage and the ‘Trays Festival’

Abstract

Este artigo pretende apresentar a relação existente entre o património industrial de Tomar e o seu património cultural imaterial, mais concretamente a Festa dos Tabuleiros, através da sua participação e organização da Festa. Esta relação, que alarga a todo o concelho de Tomar, principiou, nos dias de hoje, a vontade e a necessidade de preservar ambos os patrimónios, que até hoje ainda se relacionam, uma vez que são tão importantes para a memória coletiva e identidade da população da cidade de Tomar. Desta forma, expõe-se aqui a relação entre o património industrial de Tomar e a Festa dos Tabuleiros ao longo do tempo, bem como o modo como a sua preservação tem sido concretizada.

This article aims to present the relationship between Tomar’s industrial heritage and its intangible cultural heritage, more specifically the Festa dos Tabuleiros, through its participation in and organization of the festival. This relationship, which extends to the entire municipality of Tomar, gave rise to the desire and need to preserve both heritages, which are still related today, since both are highly important to the collective memory and identity of the population of the city of Tomar. In this way, the connection between Tomar’s Industrial Heritage and the Festa dos Tabuleiros over time is described, as well as the way in which its preservation has been realized
