dc.description.abstractOur intention is to discuss the training of educators and teachers in Portugal, from pre-school education to the 2nd grade school teaching, as well as its evolution from the beginning of the new millennium, taking into account the processes of Europeanisation and its impact on the nation-state and its educational policies. Within this perspective, we will proceed with an analysis of documents taken from a broad range of sources in an attempt to cast a more intelligible light on the options of educational policy on the initial training of educators and teachers, namely with respect to recruitment, training structure and the professional profile.pt_PT
