Design & Espaço Público: Programa Polis

Abstract

The cultural size and scope of Design have been assuming significance in the context of world’s cities through solutions that generate new features and new looks, rose by developments in science, art and technology - factors that have influenced social behavior and conducted the reformulation of urban experiences. The Polis Program, promoter of the rehabilitation of Portuguese cities, has contributed to strengthening the identity of places and lead to new uses and appropriations, stressing the importance of design in refoundation the patrimonial condition of public space.
