Celiac disease is an autoimmune and chronic disease that emerges as a result of the ingestion of gluten-containing foods by individuals genetically susceptible to this pathology. The pre-valence of celiac disease in Portugal points to an estimated 1% of the Portuguese population, corresponding to 15,000 diagnosed celiacs. With an estimated 85,000 to 100,000 undiagnosed celiacs in Portugal, it is a subdiagnosed disease that should be screened when-ever a person has symptoms. This dissertation, with the theme The Influence of Celiac Dis-ease in the Practice of Tourism by Coeliac Patients, was written in the scope of the Master's Degree in Tourism and Hotel Management at Universidade Europeia. A study was carried out on celiac disease and tourism. In order to accomplish this work, a qualitative approach was used. Data collection was based on written interview with celiac patients, which allowed us to collect data on the disease and the experiences of the interviewees with the hotel and tourism industry. The objective was to understand how this disease affects the travel behav-iour of coeliac individuals, identifying the various problems coeliac patients face when trav-elling, and also suggesting improvements for the hospitality industry so that these patients feel more included in society through the services provided by the hospitality industry.
